Just a couple of things to keep your weekend ticking over…
Don’t forget this evening at 5.30, The Book Show will have Finlay Macdonald talking to CK Stead, and poet David Eggleton will be revealing his favourite books.
And on Sunday the lovely David Howard will be talking to Lynn Freeman on National Radio’s Arts on Sunday between 12-4pm, about his new book The Word Went Round (Otago University Press). I think there may also be Kim Hill doing more of her interviews with physicists on the back of the Are Angels OK tour in the UK too. Incidentally, there’s an interesting audio snippet on the Arts on Sunday website with Maggie Barry, Fergus Barrowman, Bernadette Hall and Kate de Goldi talking around the premise ‘no two people read the same book’.
And to have something to look forward to on Monday (always a good idea) there’s the second instalment of the IIML’s wonderful Writers on Monday sessions. This Monday 24 July at 1pm in the City Gallery Wystan Curnow will read from his latest book Modern Colours(Jack Books) and talk about the work with Mark Amery. Modern Colours includes poems selected for the Best NZ Poems Online 2004 and 2005, for inclusion in the 2006 Gertrude Stein Award Anthology for Innovative Poetry (Messerli, ed) and previously published in Landfall, Jacket and Green Integer Review.
