The Press Christchurch Writers’ Festival line-up has been announced, and it's the most exciting yet.
Programmers Ruth Todd and Morrin Rout say the flavour of this year's Writers' Festival is 'definitely fiery':
15 acclaimed international authors will speak in individual and panel sessions, alongside many of New Zealand's primo poets, prose and political writers, while a host of book-related events will see Christchurch awash with book lovers.
The Festival runs over three days from 8-10 September. Guest poets will include: Irish poet and Professor of Physics at Trinity College Dublin, Iggy McGovern; Korean-American poet, Ishle Yi Park, who is the current Poet Laureate of Queens, New York; and Singaporean poets, Felix Cheong, Paul Tan and Madeleine Lee along with local guest Paula Green.
To officially open the festival, we're promised a special event presenting some of New Zealand's star writers and the music of Don McGlashan.
