There was a hint at the Prime Minister's Awards and now it's here for real: September is going to be New Zealand Book Month.
According to the Chair of the Book Publishers Association of New Zealand, Michael Moynahan, the campaign will be
a joint effort by publishers, the big retailers, independent book shops, authors, illustrators, librarians, book clubs and everyone who loves books. New Zealanders rate reading as their number one cultural activity but we also know there is a big group of us who don’t read for pleasure.
New Zealand Book Month is being project-managed by a former Oxfam director, Phil Twyford, and it has the support of Booksellers New Zealand too. Get more info from Phil on 09 815 6937 or email phil@nzbookmonth.org.nz.
