turbine5The latest issue of Victoria University’s literary journal, Turbine 05, is now available online. It showcases new work by writers associated with the International Institute of Modern Letters, as well as by the wider New Zealand writing community.

More than half the students who have studied with Bill Manhire and Damien Wilkins in 2005 are published in this issue of Turbine, which provides a preview of some of the emerging talents who are likely to make a mark on New Zealand literature in the future.

Contributors include Elizabeth Smither, Jenny Bornholdt, Fiona Farrell, Jan Lauwereyns and Stephanie de Montalk, Victoria’s writer in residence for 2005. Michele Amas, the 2005 Adam Foundation Prize winner, is also represented in the collection, where she can be heard reading her poems.

'Turbine 05 also offers a fly-on the wall view of what happens inside the famous creative writing workshops by presenting extracts from student journals,' says IIML lecturer Chris Price, who edited Turbine with the help of Kerry Hines, a Master of Arts student.
