Titus Grin

Either Side the HorizonAlternative press Titus Books will be launching no less than three new poetry titles tomorrow night (Monday 17 October) at Rakinos Bar in Auckland’s High Street, 6pm. Yes, by golly, it’s a book event on a Monday night in Auckland, at last, something to haul you away from Desperate Housewives.

Stephen Oliver’s Either Side The Horizon (right); Bill Direen’s New Sea Land and Olivia Macassey’s Love In The Age of Mechanical Reproduction. Emma Neale, in her introduction to Best NZ Poems 2004, called Olivia ‘a postmodernist whose art seems at once shrewd and sensitive’, which I would take as a compliment.

The real Stephen Oliver will be there and books will be on sale at the venue. Titus’s launches have been known to be ‘louche’ and bohemian in the not too distant past. Not sure if it was a Monday night though. Oh go on, get yourself down there.

Thanks to the Book Council for the links.
