Margaret MahyBetter get in quick for a couple of launches happening tomorrow, one in Auckland, one in Wellington.

Stephanie de Montalk is announcing two volumes of poems at Unity Books, 57 Willis Street, Wellington at 6pm. Both are published by HeadworX. Your Secret Life by Harry Ricketts and Daymoon by Robin Fry. The launch will be followed by readings by the authors.

Then at Takapuna Library on Auckland’s North Shore, also at 6pm, the amazing Margaret Mahy (pictured) will be launching her new book – and a whole new genre if I'm not mistaken: Kaitangata Twitch (Allen & Unwin) is a ‘supernatural eco-thriller’ for young adults. It’d only happen in Godzone.

Stephanie de Montalk 'announcing' two books of poems sounds like they were racing around a track with one of them the winner! In fact, there was a bit of friendly jockeying going on, first Robin then Harry then Robin then Harry - reading poems though not riding horses - and what's more reading poems to a Unity Bookshop FULL of people. Publisher Mark Pirie thought there were over a hundred interested punters and many books were sold and signed by both poets. The whole event felt like a real celebration of poetry from Stephanie's gorgeous introductions to the poems themselves which were smart and funny and poignant too -- we were treated to a woman like a giraffe and a morepork mourning the recent Tsunami.
And a little girl in pink pyjamas stole the show.
