What should I read next?

What Should I Read NextRecommendations are all the rage on the internet these days. Even Fatso, supplier of DVDs to the LeafSalon residence, emails us with new titles it thinks we will like, on the basis of what we have viewed before.

The book recommendation market is less well served: if you look up a book on Amazon, it tells you what other readers of that book have bought.

There's now a site that focuses exclusively on book recommendations. It's called What Should I Read Next?, and it's a partnership with the publisher Reverb.

Like all the best ideas, it's simple and fast. You simply enter the name of an author and title of a book, and the site suggests other books that you may also enjoy. I've no idea what's going on behind the scenes or how they generate their recommendations, but a quick trial run proved reasonably accurate for me and threw up some interesting suggestions.

If you register, the site is able to store your favourites, and provide more accurate recommendations. If you're looking for a book, and MetaCritic doesn't deliver, give WSIRN a go.
