There’s been a change in the format of The Chocolate Fish Sessions. As of this Wednesday, the sessions are going to be twice monthly, and held at the Fred Hollows Foundation Hall, Nesfield House, Level 1, 62 Valley Road, Mt Eden. It's still at 7pm, with $10 door sales (cash only, including drinks and nibbles) but there's no disabled access.
All proceeds from the sessions will be now be going to the Fred Hollows Foundation – that’s the team that goes all over the world doing cataract operations in Third World countries. So now when you nip along to see a brilliant author, have a glass of wine and a nibble, you can also bask in the warm realisation that you’re helping someone somewhere to shout ‘I can see!’ and possibly also, just for the hell of it, if they've seen Trading Places: 'I have legs!'
Sorry. Anyway, this week they have Lindsey Dawson, who has been responsible for three top NZ mags – More, Next and Grace, has also written an interior design guide, a couple of ‘personal growth’ tomes and two novels, Lipstick in the Dust and Angel Baby. She is, as one would imagine from this list of her accomplishments, an extremely talented and entertaining public speaker.
You can get a map of the venue, and submit author questions at The Chocolate Fish Sessions website.
