Bravado magazine is running its second international poetry competition. It will be judged by Alastair Paterson, editor of Poetry New Zealand.

There are indeed prizes … $500 for the number one spot, $250 for second, $100 third. Plus 10 Highly Commended Prizes of $50 each!

Conditions of entry are:

1. Poems must be the original work of the entrant, previously unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere.
2. There is a limit of 6 poems, 40 lines for each poem.
3. Winners will be notified by post. Other entrants will receive a copy of the results if they send an SSAE with their entry.
4. The entry fee is $5 per poem or $10 for three entries.
5. Winning poems will be published in Bravado 5, out in November.
6. No handwritten entries - poems must be typed on A4 paper.
7. Any style or subject is acceptable.
8. The poet’s name must not appear on the manuscript. Use a separate page with your details, as listed below.
9. The closing date for submissions is August 30th 2005.
10. Editors and columnists of Bravado are not eligible to enter.

Please send poems with a covering page listing your name, address, phone number, email address, and the names or first lines of each of your poems, together with the correct entry fee cheque or money order (and SSAE for results, if required) to: Competition Secretary c/-Bravado, PO Box 13-533, Grey Street, Tauranga.
