Race winner 23 years late

Night Race to KawauTessa Duder (right) has won the 2005 Gaelyn Gordon Award for a Much Loved Book with her first novel Night Race to Kawau, which was first published in 1982 and is still currently in print.

The Gaelyn Gordon Award was established by the Children’s Literature Foundation of New Zealand to honour books that have become favourites with New Zealand children, yet not won a major award.
