It’s just four days to the gigantic Frankfurt Buchmesse, the world’s most significant book fair.

So we thought we’d check out the New Zealand contingent that will be wheelin’ and dealin’ in Hall 8.

Several big names are there, including Hodder Moa Beckett, Penguin, and Reed. Craig Potton, David Bateman, Huia and New Holland will also be schmoozing. Creative New Zealand has set up a shop, along with the New Zealand Publishers Export Group.

On the education front, Scholastic, Learning Media and Weldon Owen Education will be flaunting their stuff. And there’s even a smattering of smaller outfits, such as LeafSalon’s Titirangi neighbours Exisle Publishing.

The international emphasis this year, by the way, is on the Arab publishing world. Buchmesse visitors will be able to examine the works of around 200 authors and artists from 17 of the 22 countries in the Arab League.
