Walking is good for you

Walking LightlyWalking Lightly is the latest book from Fleur Beale, best known for her novel I am not Esther, which won an Honour Award in the 1999 New Zealand Post Children's Book Awards. Rather than attempt to review the book myself, I thought I'd get an opinion from the target market. Over to you, Alex:

My name is Alex Hunter. I am seven years old. For the past few weeks I have been reading Walking Lightly, a chapter book by Fleur Beale illustrated by Michaela Sangl. It is about a girl named Millie and even though her parents were very rich the cool kids at her new school always teased her. The reason was they thought she was weird. In the end they all think she was cool because she did something special which made her parents proud. The thing I liked about it was that she made quite a few friends that didn’t give her a hard time. The thing I did not like about it was when they were mean. It made her feel like she would never find any friends. I think it is a fantastic book to buy and you should get it for your child. It can change your life. It gives you lots of good reasons why you should be nice to a friend!

I guess that's a thumbs up, then.
