Creative New Zealand is offering $3,000 towards international travel for publishers and literary agents who want to promote their authors overseas.
The grants are designed to make it feasible to attend key overseas book fairs, such as the London Book Fair and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
It's called the ‘Literature International Market Development Programme’ and it's likely to become an annual event. It’s aimed at marketing New Zealand authors of fiction and literary non-fiction—defined as biography, essays, histories, literary criticism or other expository or analytical prose. Poetry and children’s literature is also eligible.
Proposals must reach Creative New Zealand by Friday 22 October 2004. For more information, contact Cath Cardiff on (04) 498 0719 or cathc@creativenz.govt.nz. You can download a PDF of the Programme requirements here.
