Dunedin auction house Plumbly’s has just announced details of its next Rare Book auction, due to be held in late November.
Once again, their most interesting items include several Janet Frame works: The Pocket Mirror (1968), The Edge of the Alphabet (1962), Faces in the Water (1961), The Adaptable Man (1965), and The Lagoon & other stories (1951).
There’s also a complete set of Official Histories of New Zealand in the Second World War 1939–45, mostly in original dust jackets.
Oddities include H.K. Dalrymple’s 1937 Orchid Hunting in Otago and 1940 Fungus Hunting in Otago. And bringing up the rear is a veritable scrum of vintage rugby programmes, dating back to the Australia v. New Zealand Second Test at Lancaster Park in 1958.
