Barely a day passes without new revelations about the extraordinary life of Forbidden Love author Norma Khouri books for sale at Real Groovy">Norma Khouri - or Norma Toliopoulos, to use her real name.
Allegations of foul play are mounting, and it appears that Khouri has been on the run from the FBI for around ten years. According to a report in The Age newspaper today,
After a month-long investigation, The Age can today reveal that Khouri, 34, is alleged to have spent the best part of 10 years stealing from friends, lovers, family, and the sick and demented. She has netted at least $1 million from her crimes, perhaps more.
The Age also claims that the Chicago police have a huge file on Khouri.
We believe she is a con woman,' the source said. 'One of the best we've ever seen.'
Khouri’s current line is that she changed dates, names, locations and characters in the book – to protect herself, her family and her friends. 'I’m not saying I deny that I’ve lied. I’m saying that I apologise to all the readers, publishers and agents out there for not letting them know my personal full story,' she told Australian television.
More intriguingly, Khouri also claims that women have been murdered in honour killings in Brisbane and Adelaide.
Last August, a pregnant Jordanian woman was allegedly shot dead by her husband in Brisbane. Her husband was arrested and charged with her murder, and the case is now in the courts.
‘There was a murder that involved some Jordanian people, but as to Ms Khouri's allegation it was an honour killing, we'd be most interested to know if she could provide us with information,’ Snr Sgt Rohweder told the AAP press agency.

I have to say, Chris, that your headlines are sometimes tenuous to say the least. Try not to stay up too late perhaps, sweetie? At least you didn't say she was trying to 'curry' favour with anyone! Sigh.
