Maori literature is set to get a boost with the launch of a new biennial event: the Maori Writers National Hui, He Tapu Te Kupu.
Speakers will include Briar Grace-Smith, Merata Mita, James George, Hone Kouka, Renee and more, with keynote addresses, panel discussions and workshops.
It’s not just for Maori writers: readers who are passionate about Maori literature are also welcome. The inaugural event will be at the Wellington Town Hall, from 24 to 26 September 2004.
Workshops will cover writing for different mediums, including writing for TV, Radio, Film, Creative Writing and Publication. And Te Waka Taki Korero - The Maori Literature Trust - will present an evening programme of public events.
