One of the lesser-known afflictions of the book trade is B.O., otherwise known as Book Odour.
Most old books are slightly whiffy and none the worse for it. But every now and then, a vintage volume will be too smelly to curl up in bed with. This is usually because it has been stored in a long drop, cow shed, or Scarfie bedsit.
Sometimes, sustained sunlight is enough to erase the smell. Fabric refresheners may also work, but they can damage the offending book.
But help is now at hand. The Book Deodorizer is made from ‘chemically neutral highly absorbent granules’, with a touch of real cedar scent!
When put in an airtight container with the convalescent tome it is guaranteed to absorb odour molecules. Length of time necessary for the abrogation of the odours is dictated by the severity of the stench.
Available in either the original clay based or the new biodegradable corn cob-based. There is no risk as each bottle is guaranteed. Hundreds of bottles have been sold over the years with no refunds...as yet.
Isn’t modern science wonderful?
