three candles.jpgYet more goodies on offer for Montana Poetry Day – coming up this Friday the 16th, only 5 more sleeps!

The New Zealand Electronic Poetry Centre will be three years old on Montana Poetry Day and will be partying down at the Gus Fisher Gallery, Kenneth Myers Centre, 74 Shortland St, Auckland CBD. This groovy event will bring together writers recently involved with the site for several days of readings, launches and discussion, with lots of fantastic poets featured. Please note, it’s quite a grown-up three-year-old, so no fairy bread or cheerios, thanks.

The NZEPS, in case you didn’t know, is ‘a trial project based in the University of Auckland to set up an electronic gateway to poetry resources in Aotearoa and the Pacific region. It aims to coordinate existing archival and publishing information, and to present electronic publication of poetry and commentary in consultation with authors and their publishers.’ The site is great, it even has audio and video clips of poets doing their stuff too! Love your work, Bill. Check it out for the full birthday bash listings.

Then from 7-9.30pm that same Friday night at the Hard To Find Bookstore, George Courts Building, 238 K’Road in Auckland you can go and hear nine divine female poets strutting their own stuff as well as ‘inspirational pieces from female poets of their choice (from the living or the dead)’. Featuring Jan Kemp, Paula Green, Riemke Ensing, Siobhan Harvey and Anna Rugis. Email powwow@wave.co.nz for further details of this esoteric, estrogenic event.
