The Listener shuffles the pack

Steve BrauniasThere’s been a shuffling around in the upper echelons of the Listener magazine, the first since Pamela Stirling took over as editor five months ago.

Steve Braunias (pictured) relinquishes his role as Arts & Books editor to focus on in-depth profiles of Kiwis here and abroad, but will continue to write his Page 94 column. The new Arts & Books editor is film reviewer Philip Matthews.

Last month, Braunias and Matthews both scored highly in the Qantas Media Awards. Braunias collected the Arts category gong for best Magazine Feature Writer, and was a Finalist in the Social Issues category. Under Braunias’ supervision, the Listener also won the Best Book Pages award at the 2003 Montana awards. Matthews was a Finalist in the Qantas Senior magazine Feature Writer category.
