If you have a child who is a keen writer and you think they could benefit from some extra encouragement and tuition, check out the School For Young Writers. It’s a non-profit organization founded in 1993 and based in Christchurch which offers either home- or school-based correspondence courses for kids and young adults.

Their aims, among other things, are to help children develop confidence and individual styles as writers. Also to inspire them, and show that writing really does improve with effort. You never know, you may have a budding literary hero on your hands who's just gagging for some direction and feedback...
