New Zealand books from LeafSalon: Literary stroll
Literary stroll

wellwalk.jpgToday, the 8th of May, the first extension of the Wellington Writers Walk will be launched. The public has been invited to join Her Excellency the Governor-General at 3pm outside the Circa Theatre in Wellington to unveil four new text sculptures.

The walk was opened during the NZ International Festival of the Arts in March 2002. So far, it consists of a series of 11 text sculptures designed by Catherine Griffiths located along the Wellington harbour. Each plaque features a quote about the city (poetry or prose) from some of the many talented writers who have made Wellington their home at some stage in their lives. These have included Katherine Mansfield, Bruce Mason, Maurice Gee, Patricia Grace and Bill Manhire.

Today Alistair Te Ariki Campbell, Eileen Duggan, Dame Fiona Kidman and Barbara Anderson will have their musings set in stone to add to this literary stroll.
