denniston.jpgBooksellers New Zealand has just released its ‘Best of the Bestsellers’ list for 2003, ranking the titles that have appeared most often on its lists.

Most interesting is the presence of jeweller Jenny Pattrick’s The Denniston Rose at #2 in the fiction list: an extraordinary result for a first novel.

The full result for NZ Fiction for Adults is: #1 The Whale Rider (movie tie-in edition) by Witi Ihimaera, #2 The Denniston Rose by Jenny Pattrick, #3 The Whale Rider (new edition), #4 The Shag Incident by Stephanie Johnson and #5 Daylight by Elizabeth Knox.

In Non-Fiction, it’s the Edmonds Cookery Book at #1 closely followed by A Portrait Of New Zealand by Warren Jacobs. At #3 is The Lord Of The Rings Location Guide Book by Ian Brodie, #4 The Complete Guide To Residential Property Investment In New Zealand by Lisa Dudson and Andrew King, and at #5 Century In Black by Ron Palenski.
