In the Herald, Penelope Bieder casts her eye over several new poetry publications, including two from HeadworX. Summer On The Cote d'Azur is the eighth volume from Alistair Paterson (pictured), the former naval commander, and it’s "a stylish collection". All author royalties from this book go to Amnesty International.

How to Occupy Ourselves is also good: "David Howard … has collaborated with established photographer Fiona Pardington to produce a series of lyrical poems that are at once restrained and intense."

Anna Livesey is only 24 and Good Luck (VUP) is her first collection: "a delightful, whimsical group of poems about food, love, childhood, home furnishings, museums and similar. The meaty part of the book is reserved for two long poems, which have both won the Macmillan Brown Prize."
