Two Australian travel writers are venturing down to Whitcoulls on Auckland’s Queen Street.
The first is Melbourne-based Ben Kozel, who rafted down the Amazon River with two companions in 2000. This was only the third team to successfully trace the world's biggest river from source to sea, and Kozel (pictured) recounted the story in his book Three Men in a Raft.
In 2001, Kozel was part of the first team to trace the full length of the Yenisey, the fifth longest river in the world, from Mongolia to the Arctic Circle. The story is told in his latest book, Five Months in a Leaky Boat.
Next up is Sydneysider Peter Moore. His new book, Vroom with A View, is a humorous account of touring around Italy on a 1961 Vespa scooter. His earlier titles include No Shitting in the Toilet and Swahili for the Broken Hearted.
Kozel will be speaking on Monday 24 November and Moore on Monday 1 December. Both events start at 6.15 pm. Seats are limited, so phone (09) 356 5400 to reserve your place.
